Manor College Program

Information for students in grades 8–12 about the joint educational program between UHS and Manor College.

The main goal of the Ukrainian Heritage School is to support students’ academic and cultural development and to encourage them to take part in the cultural and civic life of the Ukrainian-American community in Philadelphia.

To reach that goal, UHS worked out an agreement with Manor College. Its purpose is to encourage more students to attend the Ukrainian school and benefit from our shared approach to learning. Manor College has agreed to share its experience in teaching and academic programs, which will help raise the standard of our school.

After reviewing the UHS academic program, Manor College concluded that our Ukrainian studies courses are of a high academic standard and equivalent to six credits of study at Manor College. As a result, UHS graduates can earn six college-level credits from Manor College under the partnership agreement.

Requirements

To receive the credits, a student must:

  1. 1maintain a grade of C or better in grammar, conversation, literature and culture in every school year from grade 9 through grade 12;
  2. 2pass the UHS exams;
  3. 3meet the graduation requirements set by the UHS administration;
  4. 4receive a UHS graduation certificate;
  5. 5pay all UHS tuition and fees in full.

The credits are officially transcribed by Manor College, where they are earned, and can be transferred to other universities. Although how many credits count, and for what, is up to each university, students receive college-level recognition for their studies at the Ukrainian school. UHS graduates begin applying to colleges and universities with six college-level credits already earned. Students may also pay for six additional credits and graduate with 12.

This achievement was made possible by the dedicated work of UHS teachers, administration and students. The school administration welcomes your questions and comments.
